We need to ACT NOW to live our Best Future together.

My name is Katrin Scholz-Barth. I am a German/American mom, wife, educator, and businesswoman, with a life-long career focus on sustainability. I serve on the Las Vegas, NM Tree Board and the local Rotary Club for the past three years. I love and deeply care for Las Vegas, NM.

Why I am running for Mayor of Las Vegas, New Mexico

I’m running for Mayor of Las Vegas, New Mexico, because I believe our best days are ahead — not if, but when we work together and ACT NOW.

I know the challenges we face. Like you, I lived through the Hermit Peak and Calf Canyon wildfire. I lost everything when we had to evacuate.

I know the pain of floods, drought, and unsafe drinking water. And I also know this: we can rebuild stronger, safer, and more united.

For over 30 years, I’ve successfully led projects in clean water, green buildings, and healthy communities. I know how to bring people together to solve problems and get things done for Las Vegas.

My vision for Las Vegas is built on three pillars:

Stronger Economy – Support local businesses, bring new clean industries, and keep our money in town.

Affordable Homes – Build and renovate homes to be healthy, energy-efficient, and within reach for families and seniors.

Safe & United Community – Clean water, better roads, safer neighborhoods, and more places where we can connect as neighbors.

We already have what it takes — rich history, creative people, and a strong sense of community. Now we need leadership with the courage to take action. Together, we can turn Las Vegas into a place where our children want to stay, work, and raise their families and our elders are cared for with dignity.

It’s Time to turn the current Las Vegas City Government on its Head because

  • Inaction is costly and inexcusable.

  • Jeopardized public trust and transparency is immoral.

  • Putting our community at continued risk is unacceptable.

    A Proven Path to Turnaround
Other small cities have rebounded from hard times — Silver City, NM, Deming, NM, Trinidad CO, Lindsborg, KS, Paducah, KY, Emporia, KS, New Bern, NC, Sanford, NC, Monett, MO, Berea, KY. They succeeded by combining arts, small business growth, and public space improvements. We can too, and add Las Vegas, NM to the list of successful small cities.

We can make a difference for a lasting impact and build a strong, resilient society.
